Homemade Oreo Cheesecake

Lets indulge in some cheese and oreo! This cheesecake was baked 3 months ago for my sister's birthday as per her request.
From the outlook, it doesn't appear or look like one cheesecake. But don't judge the book by its cover! Cut it and you will see lots of oreo chunks inside! Heavenly!

Looks like burnt cake

Polo Bun

During my one week holiday, i have plenty of time to sharpen my baking skill. And I thought of making polo bun again since the first attempt was not a successful one.

As for this time, i learnt from my mistake.
1. To score the topping with a knife, the topping won't crack itself- that was what I thought during my previous attempt. :p

2. Don't overbake or it will end up like a rock. :D

Looks more like a Polo Bun now as compared to my previous attempt

My first attempt making bread back in year 2011

After browsing through my archived photos in my computer and since this blog has been quite dead for awhile, I decided to share this on my blog. Guess what?! Photos of my first attempt in making bread. I have no idea how to knead the dough, how much water to add to the flour and how the yeast actually works but I decided to give it a try. My grandma helped me in kneading part. She has a little bit of experience and I trust her because her dad used to bake bread and I heard from her that my great grandfather was quite good in making bread. Interesting right?

Want to know the results? Continue reading....

My dough didn't rise or double in size after 40 minutes of proofing. Oops, I guess my hot water killed all the yeast. Didn't know what to do next, couldn't do much to save the dough, so I chucked it to the oven and bake.

After 15 minutes, not excited, not anticipating any good results as I expect to throw away the bread.
Took out the bread from the oven, the bread was hard. Smell and tasted like raw flour.

My sister came out with a brilliant idea. We drew funny facial expression on the bread.

Egg-like bread.

Similar facial expression? >_<

Even my furkids are not interested in those bread. If they are interested, you won't get to see the above similar facial expression photo. So what to do with the bread?

My dad and I cycled up to Air Itam Dam from our house and brought the hardened cute bread to share with the strays at the dam. Sharing is caring right?

It was a wise decision to attend a basic baking class after this attempt. My baking skills has improved tremendously and most importantly, my family and I (including my four furkids) get to eat healthy homemade bread, no preservative, no bread improver and softener.

More Walnuts and Cinnamon!!

More cinnamon and walnuts. I am in love with these two ingredients! They make a perfect combination! Still remember the cinnamon rolls I made a few months ago? The filling was filled with raisins, but this time, I replaced the raisins with walnuts and it tasted good!!

I made two different type of shapes. One was placed in the round pan while the other one was placed in a rectangular pan.

The dough that was sprinkled with brown sugar, cinnamon powder and walnuts and later rolled up.

And you get this after you cut the roll into pieces.

All proofed and ready to go into the oven.

Same goes to this.

The result. Absolutely delicious!

Cinnamon Swirl Muffins

Hey everyone! Sorry for not updating the blog for quite some time. I want to share some photos of my cinnamon muffins with my friends and readers. The uncle and aunties at my workplace tried the muffins and they liked it!

Making the batter was easy with the help of my grandma and my sister.

The first layer of the swirl.

The second layer after putting some brown sugar on the first layer.

Topped with another layer of brown sugar.

Then, the brown sugar is swirled with a satay stick to give the swirling effect!

This is how the muffin looks like after baked.
Muffins and wholemeal bread for breakfast.
I baked two loaves of wholemeal bread on that day too. Which is why you can see the wholemeal bread in the last photo.
